100 Amp Panels are the standard for average size Canadian homes and are designed for the average home’s electrical capacity needs. Most homes in Canada are adequately serviced with 100 amp as there is some room for addition of an extra appliance such as an air conditioning unit, heat pump, or even a hot tub. However, if you already have any of these along with an existing electric Range Oven, & Dryer, you are likely at the limit of your service capacity, and should consult with us before adding any other large electrical load.

An existing 100 Amp panel containing it’s original circuit breakers can reasonably be expected to perform well for around 25 years. Older than that, you should be considering whether you have a need for a new panel containing new breakers.

The proliferation of Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters has meant that some existing panel’s space capacity is reduced when new circuits need to be added. This means you may need to install a physically larger panel to accommodate extra circuits.
